Audacy: Justin Timberlake invites *NSYNC fans to ‘Paradise’ on upcoming song with the boy band

Gearing up to drop his new album, Everything I Thought It Was, on March 15, Justin Timberlake is using his time (very wisely in our opinion) to pretty much confirm *NSYNC will make an appearance on the tracklist.

Here’s the series of events that led the Internet to freak out about a boy band reunion on the album.

Between JT taking to TikTok to show off the contents of the deluxe vinyls, and posting a video montage of the “MAKING OF THE EITIW VINYLS,” on IG, eagle-eyed fans noticed that the tracklist on the back of the sleeve, which seemed to show that the a track called “Paradise,” will feature Timberlake’s former boy band, *NSYNC.

After the internet did its thing, Timberlake took to TikTok once more to reply to a follower who commented “Blink twice if *NSYNC is on a song called Paradise.” For his response, JT remained silent, stared straight into our souls, dropped down his sunglasses and very deliberately blinked twice, confirming the news.

BILLBOARD: Justin Timberlake Confirms *NSYNC Collab on Upcoming Album

Buckle up, *NSYNC fans! There’s more new music on the way.

It all started earlier this week when Justin Timberlake took to TikTok to show fans the vinyl packaging for his upcoming album, Everything I Thought It Was, which will arrive on March 15. While displaying the cinema-inspired cover art and all the goodies that come inside, eagle-eyed fans noticed that the track list on the back of the sleeve seemed to show that the track “Paradise” will feature Timberlake’s former boy band, *NSYNC.

Timberlake noticed the comments, and ended up responding to one in a coy follow-up video shared on Wednesday (Feb. 28). “Blink twice if *NSYNC is on a song called Paradise,” one fan commented with an eyes emoji. In response, the “Mirrors” singer dropped down his sunglasses and very deliberately blinked twice, confirming the news.To make it even more obvious, fellow *NSYNC member Chris Kirkpatrick commented on the post with two more eyes emojis.

Timberlake had already hinted at more *NSYNC music last month, following the release of “Better Place” for the Trolls Band Together soundtrack in September. During an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the star strongly hinted that he and bandmates JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Kirkpatrick are cooking up a follow-up to their comeback single. “That was fun,” he began, recalling how the guys reunited for “Better Place.” “It’s kind of crazy — there’s so much that picks up right where it left off as far as chemistry.”

“We’ve been in the studio,” he continued in the clip. “So there may be a little something in the future.”

People: Lance Bass Says He Was Surprised *NSYNC Fandom ‘Would Go This Nuts’ Over Reunion — and Blames Taylor Swift

Lance Bass is blaming Taylor Swift for the positive reaction to *NSYNC reuniting at the 2023 MTV VMAs.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at iHeartRadio Musical Festival in Las Vegas on Friday, Bass, 44, spoke about the fan reaction to the band coming together again.

“It is beautiful, you know? To be this age and the fans are still this excited, it is a dream come true,” he said. “I had no idea the fandom would go this nuts.”

“I blame Taylor Swift,” Bass jokingly added in his conversation with ET, laughing. “I think she sicced the Swifties on us and I think the Swifties and the *NSYNCers just kind of created this tsunami.”

“And I think it’s been so fun!” he said.

ET Canada: Lance Bass Says There Were Many ‘Tears’ When *NSYNC Reunited

The NSYNC singer and pop star spoke with ET at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on Friday.

After coming together once again at the 2023 MTV VMAs, Lance Bass is still in awe of how special it felt to reunite with his *NSYNC bandmates on stage, to the massive cheer of the crowd.

Bass walked the red carpet on night one of this year’s iHeartRadio Music Festival on Friday, and he spoke with ET’s Cassie DiLaura about the unforgettable experience of joining together at the VMAs.

“It is beautiful, you know? To be this age and the fans are still this excited, it is a dream come true,” Bass shared with a smile. “I had no idea the fandom would go this nuts.”

“I blame Taylor Swift,” he added with a laugh, in reference to how the group’s reunion culminated in presenting a star-struck Swift with the award for Best Pop Video. “I think she she sicced the Swifties on us and I think the Swifties and the *NSYNCers just kind of created this tsunami. And I think it’s been so fun!”

Bass was joined on stage by bandmates JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Justin Timberlake and Chris Kirkpatrick when they handed Swift her award, and the celebrated songstress couldn’t contain her excitement as being near the pop icons.

“I’m not doing well pivoting from this to this,” Swift said of her award, telling the group. “I have your dolls! You’re pop personified, so to receive this from your golden pop hands is really too much”

And the singer spoke for *NSYNC fans everywhere when she speculated what the reunion might mean for the group’s future: “They’re gonna do something and I need to know what it is!”

Although, despite the public outcry, Bass says there’s no definitive plans for a reunion tour or special as of now.

“I’ve been telling the fans, like, we don’t have solid plans right now. Because, you know, we’re waiting for the strike to end we’ve got things to do,” Bass said. “But [the fans are] definitely shaping our future.”

That being said, the group did recently record their first original song in over 20 years, “Better Place,” for the upcoming soundtrack for the upcoming animated film “Trolls Band Together” — the third film in the “Trolls” franchise, which featured the voice acting talents of Timberlake himself.

Earlier this month, Timberlake took to Instagram and gave his followers a behind-the-scenes look at the studio session in which they laid down the track.

“It was pretty emotional, the first time we all got in the studio together,” Bass recalled of the recording session. “Back in March, we decided to you know, get back together and have some fun and it was like no [time] had passed.”

“But there was there was a lot of tears. It was just tears of joy. And it was just a beautiful moment,” he continued. “Like, time does so much and for us to finally be together, it just feels right.”

Fans will get a chance to listen to the group’s song when it drops on Sept. 29, well ahead of the release of “Trolls Band Together” on Nov. 17. Check out the video below to hear more about the band’s recent reunion.

Billboard: Watch *NSYNC Re-Create a Hilarious Group Photo: ‘Who Had Us Pose Like That?!’

As *NSYNC revisit their boy-band days ahead of the release of their first new song in more than 20 years, they have one question: “Who had us pose like that?!”

On Tuesday (Sept. 19), the quintet posted a new Instagram video with that caption, that shows the five bandmates casually entering a room together, soundtracked by Simple Plan’s 2002 song “I’m Just a Kid,” only to fall into a completely ridiculous group pose. We then flash to the original photo, taken in January 2001, which has every guy making an over-the-top facial expression without any context or explanation against a white backdrop.

Tim McGraw reunited with Lance Bass before taking the stage at the 2023 iHeartRadio Music Festival on Friday night (September 22), and the superstar duo seemingly confirmed they’d be open to collaborating.

“My man! How are you, brother? Good to see you,” McGraw greeted Bass as the two beloved artists embraced in a hug. The reunion comes shortly after McGraw shared a throwback clip of a performance with *NSYNC — which included Bass, along with Justin TimberlakeJC ChasezJoey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick. McGraw teamed up with the beloved 90s band for a rendition of “Stand By Me” in 2001.

McGraw said when he shared the video (one day after *NSYNC reunited on stage at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards) that “if the rumors [of an *NSYNC reunion] are true,” he’s interested in joining forces with the band again.

Bass appeared to be on board with that when he embraced McGraw on Night 1 of the 2023 iHeartRadio Music Festival, shortly before McGraw took the stage. The “Standing Room Only” star said “I’m ready.”

Bass spoke about the response to *NSYNC’s VMAs reunion with iHeartRadio’s Emily Curl, saying it’s been “crazy” and “we did not expect the fandom to go that nuts. We just want to let the fans know that they are shaping our future, for sure. So, keep it going!”

LA Mag: *NSYNC Is in a ‘Better Place’ as Boy Band Reunites for ‘Trolls Band Together’ Song

“Perfect, perfect, perfect,” sings animated boy band BroZone throughout Trolls Band Together, a new film in the Trolls series — and *NSYNC fans will likely leave theaters chanting the same words after the film drops on November 17.

The third movie in the franchise celebrates boy bands as well as the ’90s and marks the first new music from *NSYNC — Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick and Lance Bass — in more than two decades, with feel-good track “Better Place.”

With just days to go until the hotly-anticipated recording is released on Sep. 29, Los Angeles magazine scored a preview of the song during an advance screening of Trolls Band Together in Beverly Hills.

Co-written by Timberlake and recorded with Chasez, Fatone, Kirkpatrick and Bass in L.A., the track starts off slow and mellow with Timberlake’s leads accompanied by smooth acapella backing from his bandmates, before bursting into the snappy, cheerful chorus that has had *NSYNC fans watching the film’s trailer on repeat.

By the end of the upbeat song, it’s “bye bye bye” to the group’s signature lyric, as the “Better Place” line “faster, faster, faster” is an instant earworm.

Likewise, Timberlake’s “dance, dance, dance” — from his 2016 Trolls smash “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” — promptly makes way for “perfect, perfect, perfect,” from the catchy BroZone hit “Perfect,” which he also co-penned for the movie.

While the film marks a massive moment for *NSYNC — whose animated versions appear on the big screen with character names like “Boom” and “Hype” – it’s also a celebration of ’90s music and culture, from roller-skating and puffer jackets to songs like Salt-n-Pepa’s “Push it” and Shaggy’s “Boombastic.”

Of course, it’s the endless boy band references and performances that make the film a must for any ’90s pop fan — New Kids on the Block, Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees, Menudo and Boyz II Men get a nod. Branch (voiced by Timberlake) and his girlfriend Poppy (Anna Kendrick) set out to get BroZone back together in order to save Branch’s former bandmate Floyd (Troye Sivan) from pop villains led by a diva who declares, “I wanna be famous, but don’t want to work for it!”

John Dory (voiced by Eric André), Spruce (Daveed Diggs) and Clay (Kid Cudi) round out BroZone, who experience everything a real-life boy band goes through, from backstage disagreements, stage mishaps, and developing rock-hard abs, to the pull of a solo career.

Although Timberlake couldn’t resist that pull, he’s back with his boys for “Better Place,” releasing via RCA Records. *NSYNC smash “I Want You Back,” also features in the film, with Timberlake reportedly re-recording the song with André and Diggs.

While rumors of an *NSYNC comeback had long been brewing, fan speculation went into overdrive as key art for the movie was revealed. Featuring the group’s logo, the ads began popping up around New York and Los Angeles in August. The quintet then came together at the MTV Video Music Awards, where they presented an award to Taylor Swift, who ecstatically questioned the musicians about what they had in store.

Two decades of patience finally paid off for Swift and other fans when the group followed up their VMAs cameo by announcing the release of “Better Place.”

In a video posted on Instagram, they were shown reuniting in L.A. to record the track. “If we do this song, it’s a love letter to our fans,” Timberlake says in the clip. “I would be honored to have the group on this song.”

Speaking days after the announcement, Fatone said reuniting with his bandmates felt natural.

“It was great being together with the guys again,” Fatone told to Los Angeles at fan convention ’90s Con in Tampa, Florida, on Friday (Sept. 15). “It’s funny because it’s almost like time doesn’t pass. It does in the sense that we’re older — although I’m not sure if I’m also wiser! But it’s crazy how we all just fell into place again.”

Despite unwavering fan demand for a reunion, Fatone was gob-smacked by the global response to the group’s VMAs appearance. His manager, Joe Mulvihill, watched as all five guys walked off stage looking stunned.

“They were completely shocked at the response,” Mulvihill says. “When you’re not together for so long, then you walk out and get that reaction, it’s crazy. They came off stage and were like, ‘Wow!’ Nobody expected those responses.”

Of course, being back under such an intense spotlight means being subject to the level of scrutiny the group faced during their heyday. This became evident on VMAs night after a backstage video showing Megan Thee Stallion seemingly arguing with Timberlake went viral. The two quickly put rumors to rest by posting a clip showing them having fun together after the show, but Fatone remains surprised at how quickly the misconstrued video spread.

“People run with whatever story they see,” added Fatone, who joined forces with AJ McLean to perform both *NSYNC and Backstreet Boys hits at Friday’s Joey Fatone & Friends gig. “They see a picture, make a conclusion and I’m like, ‘That’s not what it was.’ Or you’ll hug somebody and the minute you get too close, everyone’s like, ‘They made out.’ You take a photo and that’s just what happens — things are misconstrued a lot of the time!”

THR: ‘N Sync on Scrapped ‘Star Wars’ Cameo and “It’s Gonna Be Me” Meme

N Sync, who recently reunited for a new song, is reflecting on their time as a group, including a scrapped movie cameo, band memes and their favorite songs.

The boy band, which consists of Chris Kirkpatrick, JC Chasez, Justin Timberlake, Lance Bass and Joey Fatone, recently appeared on a Hot Ones episode to kick off its season 22. During one segment, host Sean Evans asked them about their most memorable band moments, including when they were cast as Jedi warriors in 2002’s Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones.

While Kirkpatrick, Chasez and Fatone confirmed they were initially cast and learned “a bit of sword choreography” for the role, Timberlake said he and Bass were “butt hurt” because they weren’t included. But Timberlake proceeded to joke about being relieved when the cameo ended up getting cut from the film.

Fatone added that they “wish they had the video” of them in the scrapped scene because “as we were doing the scenes, you’re literally going ‘vroom, vroom’ like an idiot.”

Later during the episode, Timberlake clarified the pronunciation of “Me” in the band’s hit song “It’s Gonna Be Me,” which eventually turned into a meme on social media because it sounds like he says “May.” The singer said the change in pronunciation was due to a specific request from Swedish songwriter-producer Max Martin.
