TODAY: Is the new ‘Trolls’ movie teasing an ‘N Sync reunion?

‘N Sync is dropping a lot of hints that the band might be getting back together — or at least that’s what some fans think.

It all started when onlookers noticed there was an *NSYNC logo plastered on posters outside promoting the new “Trolls Band Together” movie.

According to one Twitter user, these posters were spotted around LA, and if you scan the QR code provided on the artwork, you’ll see that it’ll take you to a website promoting the children’s movie, which is set to be released on Nov. 17.

On the website, fans could hear a whistling tune if they clicked the “play” button.

In “Trolls Band Together,” Justin Timberlake, who was a part of ‘N Sync with singers Lance Bass, JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick and Joey Fatone, will be reprising his role as Branch.

The film’s trailer shows that there will be a storyline about a boy band called “Brozone.”

PEOPLE: Is an *NSYNC Reunion Coming? Here’s Why Fans Think ‘Trolls’ Brought the Band Back Together

If anyone is going crazy over an *NSYNC reunion, it’s gonna be me!

*NSYNC superfans believe the band may have reunited to record after several Trolls Band Together posters were posted in New York, featuring the first letter of the *NSYNC logo and a QR code.

Trolls Band Together is the third film in the Trolls franchise, which features Justin Timberlake — who sang for *NSYNC alongside Lance Bass, JC ChasezChris Kirkpatrick and Joey Fatone — as Branch, the lead character. In 2016, he recorded “Can’t Stop the Feeing” for the first film and it became a No. 1 hit.

When fans scanned the QR code, it took them to this site. When you press “play,” a whistling tune is played.

The film’s trailer — which features hilarious boy band references — also notably slid in this language: “We’re out of sync. We’ve gone from boys to men, and now there’s only one direction for us to go: the backstreets.”

The voice cast for the new film includes Camila CabelloEric AndréAmy Schumer, Andrew Rannells, Troye SivanDaveed Diggs, Kid Cudi, Zosia Mamet, Zooey Deschanel, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, RuPaul Charles, Aino Jawo, Caroline Hjelt, Kenan Thompson, Anderson Paak, Kunal Nayyar and Ron Funches.

If the speculation is true, this would be *NSYNC’s first release since 2002. After Timberlake, 42, left the group to pursue a solo career that same year and the group went on hiatus, they reunited for a performance at the VMAs in 2013. Then, in 2016, they got together once again for their Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony.

In March, PEOPLE spoke to members of *NSYNC in honor of 25 years since the release of their self-titled debut album.

“We had five individuals that each took characteristics of the next guy, which took your same characteristics and then took characteristics from the next guy,” Kirkpatrick, 51, shared. “And then by the way, Lance sings really low. Joey sings pretty low. JC sings mid. Justin sings pretty high. Chris sings really high. To have that arc vocally, and the looks… We really complemented each other so well in every aspect of what *NSYNC was, from personalities to music to just hobbies to fashion senses, all that stuff.”

The individuals behind the record-breaking boyband also opened up about what led to the group’s commercial breakthrough and how, by the time of their ’98 U.S. debut, they all had a bit of each other ingrained in them.

“Everybody helped out each other with that personality,” Fatone said. “Meaning, sometimes JC was very quiet about stuff. My dumb, goofy ass is outgoing. That helped him to come out of his shell a little bit more. Me being that goofy and dumb, I look at JC and I go, ‘S—, you know what? I need to come up a little bit more correct and start being a little more serious.’ So we had these combinations of each other that helped each other out.”

Trolls Band Together premieres in theaters on Nov. 17.

EW: Why fans think NSYNC is reuniting

Legendary boy band NSYNC has laid dormant for over 20 years, but fans are speculating that a reunion may be imminent. The reason: Trolls Band Together, the third animated Trolls movie starring Justin Timberlake.

Entertainment Tonight is reporting (citing anonymous sources) that Lance BassJC ChasezJoey Fatone, and Chris Kirkpatrick — the former members of NSYNC — will reunite with former bandmate Timberlake as surprise members of the cast of Trolls Band Together, and that the quintet will record a new song for the soundtrack.

EW has not confirmed the reunion, but the trailer for the upcoming musical comedy certainly leaves clues for eagle-eyed viewers that hint at the possibility of an NSYNC reunion.

In the trailer, Branch (voiced by Timberlake) is visited by his long-lost brother John Dory (Eric André), who reveals that Branch used to be a member of their family boy band, BroZone. We see John Dory and his other brothers (voiced by Kid CudiTroye Sivan, and Daveed Diggs) perform a mashup of the Bee Gees’ “Stayin’ Alive” and the Backstreet Boys’ “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back),” with the phrase “Backstreet’s back” swapped out for “BroZone’s back.” Fans may recall that NSYNC performed the former song in a tribute to the Bee Gees at the 2003 Grammys.

“Branch, we’re out of sync,” one of Branch’s brothers later says, not-so-subtly referencing the pop star’s former group, although there are references to several other boy bands as well. “We’ve gone from boys to men and now there’s only one direction for us to go: the backstreets.” The plot of the movie seems to revolve around Branch and John Dory tracking down the rest of their brothers so they can mount a reunion.

Interestingly, it seems that in the movie, Timberlake’s character was abandoned by the rest of the band (“my brothers walked out on me and never came back,” he says). In reality, Timberlake was the first to leave NSYNC in 2002 to launch a solo career, and the rest of the band never formally announced a breakup — they were on indefinite hiatus. However, in his 2007 memoir (appropriately titled Out of Sync), Bass wrote, “We’re definitely broken up. It’s not a hiatus. Justin made it clear that he wouldn’t be interested in discussing another album any time soon.”

Members of the band have also been teasing a possible reunion on social media.

In an advertisement for Meow Mix cat food on Instagram, Chasez says, “I think working with the Tabby 5… it has left me thinking about other boy band ventures. You never know what could happen.”

NSYNC briefly reunited for Timberlake’s performance at the 2013 VMAs, and also all appeared on Ellen in 2018 in celebration of the group’s new star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Bass, Chasez, Fatone, and Kirkpatrick joined Ariana Grande onstage during her Coachella set in 2019 without Timberlake.

The first Trolls movie spawned Timberlake’s hit single “Can’t Stop the Feeling” which became the best-selling song of 2016, won a Grammy for Best Song Written for Visual Media, and currently stands as one of the most successful soundtrack songs of all time. The second film, Trolls World Tour, also featured an expansive pop soundtrack.

Based on the previous movies in the series, it’s safe to assume that Trolls Band Together will include a similar soundtrack — and based on the movie’s focus on boy bands and Timberlake’s continual involvement in the franchise, it wouldn’t be surprising if an NSYNC reunion is nigh — hopefully with no strings attached.

Representatives for Universal, RCA, Bass, Chasez, Fatone, Kirkpatrick, and Timberlake did not respond to EW’s request for comment.

IHeartRadio: *NSYNC Expected To Reunite For A New Song Soon

It’s finally happening! Well, maybe. A source recently told Entertainment Tonight that *NSYNC may be reuniting for the upcoming third installment of the Trolls movies, which stars Justin Timberlake. The new movie, Trolls Band Together, is actually about a boyband reuniting so the real-life reunion would be fitting.

JC ChasezLance BassJoey Fatone, and Chris Kirkpatrick are expected to have surprise roles in the third Trolls film, Trolls Band Together, with Justin Timberlake,” the source revealed. They went on to add that the band will also release a new song for the movie. ET reached out to Universal and the studio chose to not comment on the news. If the rumors are true, the new song would mark the first release from *NYSNC in over a decade. Their last single release as a group was “Girlfriend” in 2001.

The exciting news comes just weeks after Timberlake raised eyebrows after wishing JC a happy birthday by posting a video of them clearly working on music in the studio. Fans have been holding out for an *NSYNC reunion for years. In 2022, the reunion rumors were reignited after recent birthday boy JC joined TikTok and tagged his former bandmates in one of his first posts. Earlier this year, Bass opened up about the possibility of a full reunion. “I think it just has to be the right time; we all have to be inspired in the moment,” he said. “But I do think the world needs something again from *NSYNC. I always feel bad that there was no ending, because we didn’t have a final show, we didn’t have a final tour, because we didn’t know it was the final days.” The singer added, “we owe it to the fans to give them something at some point.”

Page Six: *NSYNC set to reunite with Justin Timberlake for release of first song in more than 20 years: report

Here we go … one more time?

*NSYNC has reportedly gotten back together to create new music for the latest installment of the “Trolls” film franchise.

Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick and Lance Bass are set to release a new song for the upcoming movie “Trolls Band Together,” a source told “Entertainment Tonight” Friday.

The insider also claimed that all five members of the iconic boy band are “expected to have surprise roles” in the animated musical comedy, due out in theaters Nov. 17.

trailer for “Trolls Band Together” appears to tease the rumored reunion, with one character Floyd, played by Troye Sivan, telling Timberlake’s character, Branch, “We’re out of sync” in the clip.“We’ve gone from boys to men, and now there’s only one direction for us to go: to the back streets,” he adds, seemingly also referencing groups Boyz II Men and Backstreet Boys.

Page Six has reached out to reps for Timberlake, Chasez, Fatone, Kirkpatrick and Bass for confirmation but did not immediately hear back.

Universal Studios and DreamWorks Animation, the respective distributor and production company for the movie, also did not immediately return requests for comment.

This would be the first time in more than two decades that *NSYNC has put out a musical project. Their last single, “Girlfriend,” off of their fourth and final studio album, “Celebrity,” was released in 2002.

Timberlake went on to have a successful solo career with chart-topping albums and hits, including “Cry Me a River” and “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” off of the first “Trolls” movie’s soundtrack.

Since *NSYNC parted ways, however, the “Bye, Bye, Bye” singers have made a few public appearances together, much to the amusement of their devoted fandom.

In August 2013, they performed with Timberlake, now 42, at the MTV VMAs in Brooklyn, NY.

Five years later, the pop group reunited in Los Angeles to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

*NSYNC, minus Timberlake, then surprised fans at Coachella in 2019 for a rendition of their hit “Tearin’ Up My Heart” alongside Ariana Grande, who stepped in for the “Sexyback” singer.

Over the years, many have speculated that perhaps Timberlake’s success is part of the reason *NSYNC has not reunited sooner, but Kirkpatrick, 51, told Page Six exclusively in October 2022 that another member was hesitant to get back into the spotlight.

The “Celebrity Big Brother” alum said of Chasez, 47, at the time, “I don’t know if there was a bad taste in his mouth from his first record or what, but I know that there’s a bad taste in his mouth from something, and he just won’t put [new music] out no matter what.”

If the rumblings about “Trolls Band Together” are true, Chasez’s cold feet may have finally gone away.

US Weekly: Why ‘NSync Fans Are Convinced the Boy Band Will Announce a Reunion Concert

‘NSync fans are in a frenzy after several members of the iconic boy band have hinted at a possible reunion via social media.

While Lance Bass often talks about his experiences as a ‘90s heartthrob online, some of the singer’s recent TikTok posts have centered around his time in the group. “POV: you’re doing chores and start getting flashbacks,” Bass, 44, captioned a July 6 upload, featuring himself dancing to ‘NSync’s “Here We Go” while doing housework.

In addition to putting his ‘NSync music knowledge to the test and having his husband, Michael Turchinrank his most memorable outfits in more July TikTok uploads, Bass also addressed potential reunion rumors. “Me staring at the incoming call from my manager after I made another joke on TikTok about *NSYNC getting back together,” he captioned a July 24 post.

Bass continued to add fuel to reunion rumors by quizzing himself and TikTokers Kate Steinberg and Rod on ‘90s music lyrics — including multiple ‘NSYNC songs — on Thursday, August 17. “I think you do well in a band,” Rod joked to Bass at the end of the video.

Fellow member JC Chasez has also hinted at a potential comeback as he recently starred in a boy band-inspired commercial for the cat food company Meow Mix. “I think working with the Tabby 5, it has left me thinking about other boy band ventures. You never know what could happen,” he teased in an Instagram ad on Wednesday, August 16.

Earlier this month, Justin Timberlake caused fans to freak out after posting a throwback snap of him and Chasez, 47, in the studio together in honor of the latter’s birthday.

Some of the biggest reunion hints so far have come not from the members themselves, but from music manager Melinda Bell. “#wheelsup for a loooong day, but I wouldn’t change a thing,” she tweeted on Thursday. She followed up the post with an update one day later, writing, “Finally #wheelsup a great productive day. Oh and happy birthday @jw7680 and yes *NSYNC fans you are the best with your clue hinting. Xo.”

Many fans are questioning Bell’s posts. “But…But…But…will we be rewarded for our clue hunting skills?” one fan wrote via X (formerly known as Twitter), while another joked: “I will sell my leg to see #NYSYC … We are dying over here to know more information. PLEASE LET THERE BE A TOUR. PLEASE.”

The band — which also includes members Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick — previously reunited sans Timberlake, 42, for a surprise Coachella performance with Ariana Grande in 2019. Fatone, 46, later revealed Timberlake was unable to join them due to his own tour at the time.
