Justin Timberlake is still most well known as a singer, but he’s been a prominent actor as well. Movies like The Social Network, Friends With Benefits, and most recently, Palmer, have gained him a lot of attention in Hollywood. While he’s signed on for dramas and romantic comedies, and even children’s movies like Trolls, he hasn’t yet joined one of the major franchises. Now, a trusted and proven inside source for Giant Freakin Robot has shared that may soon change. Our source shared that Justin Timberlake is currently in talks with Marvel for a major role.
It’s important to note that at this point, they’re still in talks. Our source shared that there are multiple options being discussed. One role they said that Justin Timberlake is currently looking at is for the villain in Ironheart. While they were able to disclose that the villain role is in consideration, they were unable to confirm who the villain will be in the Ironheart series for Disney+.
…
At this point, Justin Timberlake is in talks. We can’t predict whether he’ll sign on the dotted line with Marvel or not. Taking on a major role is a huge commitment. Stars like Chris Hemsworth have been playing Thor for over a decade, so it would make sense if Timberlake wants to be choosy about the role he takes on. At this point in his career, it would be interesting to see the likable pop star take on the role of a villain. There’s still plenty of iconic villains out there if he decides to stick with that route. Hopefully, he’ll find one that suits.
Timbaland and Justin Timberlake are certainly no strangers in the studio, but it looks like these two have been working on some new music together.
On Wednesday (Dec. 29), Timbo posted a video of him, JT and Ant Clemons — who performed “Better Days” alongside Timberlake during the Celebrating America concert following President Joe Biden’s inauguration — vibing in the studio to a new snippet. “Soon to come,” the Verzuz co-creator captioned the snippet with a series of suspicious eye emojis.
But what’s particularly noteworthy about the new sample is the signature baby voice that Timbaland first made popular on Aaliyah’s Grammy-nominated 1998 single “Are You That Somebody?” which was recently released on streaming services for the first time, much like the late R&B singer’s discography. Clemons is heard screaming in the video, which Anderson .Paak teased him about in the comments section. “N—a why you screaming like that @antclemons,” he wrote, to which Clemons responded with a series of cry-laughing emojis.
In the video, Clemons exclaims to Timbo, “You brought the baby back! You should put the baby on this and Lil Baby.” “And DaBaby,” JT chimes in with a laugh. “And my baby.”
Timbo and JT reunited this past spring on Justine Skye’s latest album Space and Time: Timbaland executive produced it and the former *NSYNC member was featured on the song “Innocent,” which gives songwriting credits to Timbaland and Missy Elliott due to its interpolation of Aaliyah’s “If Your Girl Only Knew.”
Earlier this month, the megaproducer teased another major release/reunion with Missy, which would be her first full-length album since 2005’s The Cookbook.

Justin Timberlake has joined his longtime collaborator Timbaland at Beatclub, an online global marketplace for music makers offering exclusive beats, loops and sounds. Beatclub, founded by Timbaland and his longtime manager and business partner Gary Marella, has already signed up such A-listers as J. Cole, Mike Will Made It, Mike Dean, Scott Storch, Larance Dopson, Tainy, Tommy Brown Boogz and Jozzy, among others. It’s expected to launch later this year.
“Justin is without a doubt one of the most inspiring song writers and artists in the world,” said Timbaland. “Having him join Beatclub is like welcoming an old friend home. I’m thrilled that music creators are going to have the ability to actually collaborate with Justin and me when we launch later this year.”
Added Marella: “Beatclub is positioned to become the most creator-friendly music marketplace in the landscape. Unlike similar platforms, Beatclub allows creators to keep 100% of their master and publishing rights,100% of their revenue, and gives them the ability to customize licenses, allowing the creator to set their own terms and fees. This empowering, creator-centered model has attracted hundreds of elite producers, song writers and artists who have been invited to join the platform. When Beatclub launches later this year, creators globally will be selling beats, loops, sounds, acapellas and demos on the platform.
Timberlake and Timbaland’s work together goes back nearly 20 years to Timberlake’s 2002 debut album, “Justified.” The two also collaborated on 2006’s “FutureSex/LoveSounds,” 2013’s “The 20/20 Experience” and 2018’s “Man of the Woods.” Their hits together include “SexyBack,” What Goes Around… Comes Around” and “My Love.”
Trailblazing producer Timbaland has won four Grammy Awards and has been nominated 21 times.
Beatclub principals include Marella, co-founder and co-CEO (with Timbaland); producer Federico Vindver, co-founder; Daniel Glogower, head of business development; Dev Tejwani, CMO; Eric Czar, CTO; and Brian Berger, SVP of A&R.
The film picks up following the brutal murder of a young real estate agent, following a hardened detective (Del Toro) as he attempts to uncover the truth in a case where nothing is as it seems. In doing so, he finds himself dismantling the illusions in his own life.
Prolific music video director Grant Singer is helming the pic in his feature directorial debut. He wrote the script with Benjamin Brewer (The Trust, Beneath Contempt).
Molly Smith, Trent Luckinbill and Thad Luckinbill are producing for Black Label Media, with Black Label’s Seth Spector co-producing. Del Toro and Rachel Smith are exec producing.
Timberlake most recently played the title role in the Apple Original Film Palmer.
